They were not Sacked, they Resigned - Onanuga

Wale Edun, former Finance Minister, and Musa Dangiwa, Housing Minister, resigned; they were not sacked

Former Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, duly tendered his resignation from office, citing health reasons, before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced his replacement on Tuesday.
Also, the former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, similarly resigned and thanked the President for the opportunity given him to serve in the Federal Executive Council.

Edun, who clocked 70 on Monday and has battled recent ill health, fittingly submitted his resignation letter on his birthday, thanking the President for the opportunity to serve Nigeria.

“It has been a pleasure and privilege to serve your administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda”, his letter read.

“Under your leadership, Nigeria has emerged stronger, more resilient and more internationally respected.

“I wish you and the administration every success in the future”, he wrote.

On Tuesday, before the Office of the Secretary of the Government of the Federation announced his departure from the Cabinet, Edun paid a valedictory visit to the President at the Villa. He held an hour-long discussion with the president and then left to focus on his private businesses.

Dangiwa, an architect, previously served as the managing director of the Federal Mortgage Bank between 2015 and 2022, as well as Secretary to the Katsina State Government, before President Tinubu appointed him as housing minister in August 2023.

Edun, an economist and investment banker, served as Lagos State commissioner for finance between 1999 and 2004, during the tenure of then Governor Bola Tinubu.

Before then, he worked from 1980 to 1986 at Chase Merchant Bank (later Continental) in Lagos. He joined the World Bank in September 1986 through the elite Young Professionals program, where he worked on economic and financial packages for several countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In 1989, he co-founded Investment Banking & Trust Company Limited (now Stanbic IBTC) and served as executive director. In 1994, he founded Denham Management Limited, which has since become the Chapelhill Denham Group. He served as chairman from 2008 to 2021.

President Tinubu has expressed deep appreciation to Edun and Dangiwa for their dedicated service and significant contributions to the administration’s economic reform programme and wished them continued success in their future endeavours.

In the same vein, the President has urged the new Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, to consolidate ongoing reforms and advance the administration’s fiscal and economic objectives with renewed focus, discipline, and innovation.

President Tinubu will shortly send the ministerial nominee for housing, Muttaqha Rabe Darma, also from Katsina, like Dangiwa, to the Senate for confirmation.

Our petrol to hit filling stations within 48hrs - Dangote

Businessman, Aliko Dangote, has revealed that petrol produced from his 650,000 barrels per day refining facility will hit filling stations in the next 48 hours as modalities with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited are formalised.

Dangote said this on Tuesday during a press briefing announcing the formal production of petrol at the refinery.

“Our PMS (Premium Motor Spirit) can be in filling stations within the next 48 hours depending on NNPCL,” he said.

Asked to speak on the pricing of the product from his refinery, Dangote said, “It is an arrangement which is designed and approved by the Federal Executive Council led by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“As soon as it is finalised, which he (Tinubu) is pushing, once we finish with NNPC, it can be today, it can be tomorrow, we are ready to roll into the market.”

Last December, Dangote, Africa’s leading industrialist, commenced operations at his $20bn facility sited in Lagos with 350,000 barrels a day.

The refinery, which was initially troubled by regulatory battles, hopes to achieve its full capacity of 650,000 barrels per day by the end of the year.

The refinery has begun the supply of diesel and aviation fuel to marketers in the country and now petrol.

Dangote also added that the introduction of naira for crude will reduce the demand for foreign exchange by 40 per cent.

“I want to thank President Bola Tinubu for creating this idea of Naira for crude and Naira for the product. Doing that will give a lot of stability to the Naira and remove 40 per cent of the demand for dollars. That’s not just it, there is a lot of round tripping,” he stated.

He added that it would become possible to track loaded trucks, hence making it easier to compute the national

consumption.

20,000 graduates to get paid internships after NYSC – Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says 20,000 graduates are to get paid internships after participating in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.

The VP added that the Federal Government will continue to deepen business reforms and partner with firms to ensure wholesome national development.

Osinbajo spoke on Monday at the commissioning of the Toyota Service and Research Facility in Lagos.

He restated government’s commitment to partner with companies because private sector players “are better equipped and resourced to lead the development of the economy”.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) said the Buhari administration remains committed to the reforms being driven by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).

Osinabo hailed the President for his directives, approvals and executive orders for the provision of infrastructure, power, roads, rail, and broadband connectivity.

The VP said the National Development Plan (NDP) 2021-2025 is a government-private sector partnership with an investment commitment of N348trillion.

"The private sector is expected to invest N298trillion or about 86% of the projected investments. This simply means that government must create the most conducive environment for private enterprise in Nigeria.”

He also highlighted other government interventions such as the Investing in Digital and Creative Enterprises programme(i-Dice), an over $600million facility by the AfDB, and the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP).

The i-Dice programme will support young tech and creative sector entrepreneurs through the provision of finance, skills development and infrastructure.

“Under the NJFP, 20,000 graduates, after their youth service, will be given fully-paid internships that will last for 12 months in reputable private and public sector organizations across the country”, Osinbajo said.

NANS(Mapoly) Clears Atmosphere on Misinformation By Comr Tegbe Stephen

Hon. Comr. Mogaji(Left), Comr Tegbe(Right)
SOLIDARITY GREETINGS COMRADES.

I’m not prone to involve in NANS' power tussles, but it’s always painful when some supposed Comrades create faction against a duly elected administration and still lie in a bid to get recognized.

On the issue of a Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) student that was arrested over purchase of contraceptive by men of OLUWO POLICE POST. It was simply a case of misunderstanding and overzealous acts by these officers.

Upon receiving a call over this issue, I placed a call through to MAPOLY SUG PRESIDENT (COMRADE BABATUNDE ADEOLA) as I was out of town.
The SUG President along with some MAPOLY Comrades were able to secure the lady's release on bail.

It is therefore embarrassing and disgusting, to see COMRADE TEGBE who is still parading himself as NANS Zone D Coordinator publish a misleading write up about the incident.

It must first be noted that, Mr. TEGBE is NOT the SouthWest coordinator and doesn't have the legitimacy to wade in on matters like this. The fact that you're willing to factionalize NANS SOUTHWEST does not mean you should involve our dear school in your political misadventure.

Contrary to Tegbe's publication, no lawyer was  present at the police station to bail the student. Rather, it was the SUG President, some MAPOLY Comrades, alongside the girl’s friends that facilitated the bail.
Secondly, there was no exchange of cash as it is being purported by TEGBE.

MR TEGBE should know that legitimacy and acceptability cannot be bought on the platform of cheap publicity, misleading posts and sheer fakery.

The only duly elected NANS SOUTHWEST COORDINATOR is COMRADE ADEGBOYEGA EMMANUEL OLATUNJI (TEE-JAY) and we will not involve ourselves with illegitimate officers and any other shenanigans.

Tegbe and his cohorts should take this as a sufficient warning to steer clear of MAPOLY.

SOLIDARITY FOREVER!

STUDENTS' REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL, MOSHOOD ABIOLA POLYTECHNIC,
