Ander Herrera says Manchester United will do all they can to stop Leicester City securing the title at Old Trafford.
Leicester
are now seven points clear of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur with
three games remaining, which means Claudio Ranieri’s men will be
confirmed as champions if they beat United on Sunday.
United
midfielder Herrera said he hopes to see Leicester crowned champions but,
with Louis van Gaal’s men still in the hunt for a top-four finish, they
have no intention of making it easy for them this weekend.
Herrera told Sky Sports: “First of all, I have to say we think about
Man United. We are still in the race. We have to be in the top four. It
is very important for us.
“It’s true that we are playing against
Leicester. They are a very good side and they are playing fantastic, but
we don’t want them to win the title at Old Trafford. They deserve to
win the league but I hope that they can do it at home.”
Fifth-placed
United are currently five points behind both Manchester City and
Arsenal with a game in hand, with City and Arsenal due to meet at the
Etihad Stadium on May 8.
